A revival for Android tablets at Google?
This Pixel Tablet therefore embodies Google’s hope to return to the tablet market, dominated head and shoulders by Apple and its iPads (with 31% market share according to IDC in the second quarter of 2022, compared to just over 18% for Samsung). The company that enjoys the good aura of Pixel series smartphones, this new iteration could allow Google to return to the top 5 worldwide, consisting of Apple, Samsung, Amazon, Lenovo and Huawei.
The Pixel tablet should therefore ship Android 13, the internal Tensor 2 chip also found in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, and stands out from its competitors by offering a support to repair the device while it functions as a charging station, and which would make the whole thing look like a Nest Hub (according to rumors, Apple could also offer such an accessory for its iPads).
A pre-release for sale on Facebook Marketplace
The images (of poor quality) illustrating this article come from a pre-version for sale on Facebook’s marketplace for $400 (before it is quickly removed), and marked with ShrimpApplePro. Although Google has not specified a release date, we won’t have to wait very long to learn more about this Pixel tablet and about Google’s return to this market.
