This is a figure that RTL will reveal to you on Thursday 6 October as fuel prices start to rise again: 27% of motorists say they are ready to stop paying car insurance, according to a study by online insurance company Leocare. And the proportion is even higher among young people: 40% of people under the age of 35 say they are ready to do without insurance.
Between the prices of vehicles or fuel, 27% of motorists would therefore be ready to ignore one item of expenditure, namely insurance. It must be said that for several years, the increases are constant and that it will continue according to Christophe Dandois, who heads Leocare, the online insurance company behind the study. “For next year, in light of developments in the price of raw materials, repair costs, the expected increase is between 4 and 6%”he said.
And it is mainly 18-34-year-olds who would be tempted to do without insurance: at 40% compared to 20% for those over 50. The reason: premiums double for young drivers, raising fears of an increase in risky driving. We think so 800,000 drivers drive without insurance.
Remember that this is a misdemeanor, an offense punishable by a fine of up to 3,750 euros.
