Implementation of the CMU: Ivorian pharmacists ready to support the government

Abidjan, the President of the National Council of the Order of Pharmacists (CNOP), Arounan Diarra, assured on October 11, 2022 in Abidjan of the commitment of his peers to support the government in the implementation of the important universal health coverage (CMU) project. It was after an audience granted to him by the Ivorian Prime Minister, Patrick Achi.

“Ivorian pharmacists are committed to honestly play their role in the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (CMU). We have a convergence of views on most points. Pharmacists, all entities included, are all willing to effectively support the CMU process by ensuring that our populations have access to medicine,” said Arounan Diarra.

He emphasized the state’s efforts to improve the CMU process and assured the population of the quality of the service.

Arounan Diarra also indicated the need to develop the local pharmaceutical industry to make medicines more accessible and at a lower cost to the population.

“The process has started since 2019, he said. There have been difficulties, but significant improvements have been made so that through this mechanism, people will have access to quality medicines in all private pharmacies in Côte d’Ivoire and all pharmaceutical depots linked to these pharmacies. “It is a large territorial network. Wherever we are in Côte d’Ivoire, we will have access to medicines from pharmaceutical structures,” the pharmacist added.
