Last March, Milan and his friends booked a trip to Lloret de Mar, which was to take place in September. The goal ? Celebrate the end of their secondary studies. To do this, the group of friends turned to Summer Bash, an organization specializing in student travel. Milan paid a deposit of €190 and also took out cancellation insurance in case of illness or passing the exam with the VAB company.
In June, the bad happens: Milan has to cancel his trip to Spain because he is repeating his year. If he was counting on a refund of his money, it wasn’t. “The insurance company does not want to repay the advance paid. In the event of a reconsideration, there would be compensation. But if you have to double up, you’re apparently locked out of the refund. I don’t think it’s right,” his father laments to HBVL.
“According to the general conditions, there is actually only intervention in the event of reports”, clarifies VAB. The company nevertheless believes that the case of Milano is “in the spirit of these conditions” and is therefore willing to refund.
