Covid: the epidemic (re) gaining ground in Charente

In Charente, the incidence rate, that is to say the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants is rising sharply, to 402 for week 25, from June 20 to 26, to 606 on 1er July. It is a little below the rate recorded in New Aquitaine, which is 666. But in the department, it was “only” 148 at the beginning of June, 283 in the week from 13 to 19 June. Nevertheless, this rate remains the second lowest in the entire region, behind Lot-et-Garonne (429). For example, it is 623 in Charente-Maritime, 773 in Gironde, 794 in Corrèze. It is 894 in France, at 1er July.

In the last week of June, the positivity rate in Charente was 31.9% of people screened. It was 15.5 at the start of the month, but remains one of the lowest in the region.

In Charente, the screening rate is 1,541 per 100,000 inhabitants. It is also the weakest in the region.

On Saturday, 24 people were hospitalized for covid in Charente, including one in intensive care. There were no deaths during the last week of June.

Faced with this recovery on the eve of the summer holidays, no compulsory measures have been taken by the public authorities. Nevertheless, the ARS is renewing its advice on caution and prevention, on the subject “Let’s reinforce our vigilance and respect barrier gestures”. By targeting in particular the wearing of a mask in places of “significant” “promiscuity” and public transport and contact with the elderly, as well as by recommending the second dose of vaccination booster beyond 60 years.
