This Monday, December 19, 2022, around 7:00 a.ma fire broke out on one 10 m catamaran in the port of Chantereyne in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche).
A couple discovered
According to the Manche Department Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS 50), the catamaran was moored to a reception pontoon that was inaccessible from shore. The firemen were warned by the captaincy.
One yachtsmen whose boat was moored not far from the completely burning catamaran, eyewitness, was interrogates. He would have seen a couple with a dog attempt to extinguish the flames.
That allocated resources for this intervention are essential: two fire trucks, a ship’s fire support vehicle, a diving vehicle, a rescue boat, two ambulances and a nurse, as well as a column command. The fire was brought under control with two water hoses, one of which was on the lifeboat.
7 divers are hired to determine whether there are bodies in the boat.
43 firefighters rescue centers from Cherbourg, Tourlaville, La Hague and Bricquebec were mobilized to the scene as well as SNSM and marine firefighters.
That deputy mayor from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, Muriel Jozeau-Marigné went to the site.
