Difficult for Sarah Woods to deny his professional origins. After fifteen years with the boutique of the same name, Me Woods joined a new team, that of McCarthy Tétrault, where she began her career in 2004. She returned through the front door as an associate.
Remember that the firm Woods was founded more than 25 years ago by his father, the lawyer James A. Woods.
“I’ve maintained my relationships with McCarthy Tétrault members over time,” Sarah Woods explains over the phone. When it came time to take stock of my career, I concluded that the firm had a lot of great things to offer me, including a national platform, multidisciplinary teams and strong leadership. »
Take stock? Me Woods admits it herself, but she specifies in the same breath that every professional should engage in such an exercise, at least once in his career. After almost eighteen years at the Bar, she wanted to take advantage of the characteristics offered by a national firm like McCarthy Tétrault.
At 1000 de la Gauchetière, Sarah Woods maintains that she will be able to work as a team with the firm’s various working groups. This is true, for example, in mergers and acquisitions and bank financing, practice groups that do not exist within litigation boutiques, she points out.
“It’s very interesting for a practice like mine to benefit from such a level of complementarity. I could share my ideas on the legal level, but also my resources and my contacts, in addition to benefiting from the angles of approach of my colleagues. »
Didn’t she however find it difficult to leave the shop founded by her father?
“It’s a business decision. I left a good group of lawyers to join another great team of professionals. It’s exciting, from a professional point of view, to embark on this new adventure. »

“With her spirit of innovation and openness to the world, Sarah exemplifies McCarthy Tétrault’s values very well. At the beginning of her career, Sarah was an intern, then a member of the firm, and it is with great pleasure that we will reconnect with her talents,” says Me Tabbakh.
Sarah Woods represents corporations and large corporations in securities, construction, commercial real estate, shareholder disputes and class action litigation.
